Our September Freshmen Student of the Month is Katrina Deatrick! A very charismatic person, she was more than happy to give us a few minutes of her time for an interview. She is 14 years old, her favorite color is black, and here’s what she had to say to us:
FB (Falcon Beat): Hello Katrina, we at The Falcon Beat were wondering: what’s it like being at the high school?
KD (Katrina Deatrick): It is not what I was expecting, but it's better than I was expecting, if that makes sense. It is not like High School Musical though.
FB: What has been your favorite thing about high school so far?
KD: My favorite thing would be all of the friends that I’ve made. Also getting to experience new things and classes.
FB: Do you have any plans for this year?
KD: My only plans are to just work on cheerleading and keep all As.
FB: That’s awesome. So I see you like cheer. What are some of your other hobbies?
KD: Well besides cheer, I like working out and sleeping.
FB: I am sure most of us can relate on that last one. So, if you had to choose, who would be someone you admire and why?
KD: I would say my mom. She went through a lot in her life, but she’s still here and she’s still working.
FB: She seems like a great role model. So, who is your favorite teacher and what is your favorite school subject?
KD: Ms. Brown is my favorite teacher, and Success 101 is my favorite class. It has allowed me to open up about myself which I have a hard time doing, so it's been very helpful for me.
FB: Okay, last question: Do you have a favorite quote or piece of advice?
KD: Don’t let people get you down by the roots.
FB: Thank you for that advice Katrina, and thank you so much for interviewing with us today. Congratulations on being the September Student of the Month!
