It was a four hour car ride, but it was completely worth it! The Falcon cross country team had their first meet on Wednesday, September 28th, in Bishop. Co-captains for the boy’s team, Aden Wiebers and Dawson Ford, went along with the other team members: Senior Eric Henning, Junior Bianca Mechelin (this was her first ever cross country meet!), Sophomore Austin Flores, Freshman Lucas Flores, Otto Jensen, and Nathan Steers. They all ran on Wednesday. Here’s how the eight of them did:

Aden Wiebers came in 10th place with a time of 20.56.

Dawson Ford placed 16th with a time of 21.52

Nathan Steers in 22nd place with a time of 22.54

Lucas Flores came in 27th place with a time of 23.30

Otto Jensen placed 44th with a time of 27.19

Austin Flores in 47th with a time of 29.38

Eric Henning unfortunately was injured during the race and came in 54th place with no time being recorded.

For the boy’s teams that competed in this race: Bishop placed 1st, Rosamond 2nd, Cal City 3rd, FMHS 4th, Desert 5th, and Kern Valley 6th.

There weren’t enough FMHS girls to place as a team this race, but we are still proud of all of our runners! Everyone did their very best!

The next cross country meet is at home on Wednesday, October 5th. This will be a dual meet (only two teams competing) against Rosamond. The runners (both boys and girls) will be on the track starting at 3:00.
