The Oscars this year took place on February 28, 2016, and one of the most glamourous yet! This year was the mark for the 88th annual academy awards celebration, and they made sure it went down in the books. All of the hottest stars were there dressed in their best, and ready to have a good time.

The red carpet was the spotlight for the celebrities’ dress up. Actors and Actresses strutted their stuff, such as Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Pratt, Jennifer Lawrence, Rachel Adams, and so many more! There were even couples such as Jennifer Aniston with Justin Theroux, and Keith Urban with Nicole Kidman.

Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, and Sam Smith gave their all as they poured out their hearts into their performances of Best Original Songs. Sam Smith sang his academy award winning song, “Writing’s On the Wall”. The Weeknd enjoyed singing “Earned It” from Fifty Shades of Grey with a beautiful introduction of violins. Lady Gaga received a standing ovation after performing “Til It Happens To You” from the Hunting Ground. Her song is about sexual assaults here in the United States. As the song came to a close, victims of rape mounted the stage with words like "survivor" and "not your fault" written on their bodies, as they joined hands as one. The performances of 2016 Oscars were nothing but beautiful.

Everyone that received an Oscar truly deserved the trophy. Brie Larson won the best actress for Room, Mark Rylance won an oscar for his work in Bridge of Spies, and Alicia Vikander won the best actress for a supporting role. Even if you did not watch the Oscars this year, you most likely heard of a man that had a reputation of not getting an oscar no matter what role he got. Leonardo Dicaprio won his first Oscar this year for the best actor, showcasing his role in The Revenant. This put an end to all his Oscar memes. Leonardo Dicaprio gave his overdue speech thanking all those that made this possible, and brought more attention to climate change as he made the audience aware of it’s negativity.
