The FMHS cross country team had their homecoming meet on Wednesday, October 19th! This was a dual meet against Kern Valley. There was a grand total of fourteen runners (boys and girls) and, “[we] even had a few spectators doing the wave in the stands,” said coach Christy Zimmerman in an interview. Six of our boys and one of our girls raced today:
Aden Wiebers took first place with a time of 20:10.
Dawson Ford came in second at 21:07.
Lucas Flores was in third with a time of 23:19.
Next was Nathan Steers in fourth place with a time of 23:53.
Otto Jensen took fifth place and came in at 25:11.
Austin Flores was in seventh place with a time of 28:11.
For the girls race, Masey Zimmerman came in sixth place with a time of 32:40.
The FMHS boys team took first place by default (Kern Valley only had two boys racing).
The Kern Valley girls team won by default as well.
“Compared to last week, the Falcons ran much slower. However, our course is much tougher than Cal City which is very flat. It was also a learning experience for our runners that, no matter the course, you run your race. You cannot let another runner dictate your pace.” Coach Zimmerman responded when asked how she felt this meet went.
Our next home meet is scheduled for Friday, October 28th against Desert. Please come out to support our Falcon runners!
