The Golden Globes, for the most part, is a harmless event where film and television awards don’t receive a prestigious label, but the show is usually much less stressful than the Oscar’s. There are hardly any complaints post-show, because apparently most people believe that the upcoming Oscar’s Award Season is far more valuable than its smaller counterpart. Really, prestige relies on its fragile foundation of reputation, and in any case we’ve managed to mock up award shows to an outstanding degree.
This year's show was held on January 8th. With Jimmy Fallon as the host, the show plays around various jokes and themes for taking turns in giving awards to the lucky nominees. While nothing staggering came out of the event, one notable exception was how the motion picture La La Land came home with 7 Golden Globe Awards. Interesting, but nothing major, so now attention is passed onto events of the Academy Awards. I’d say to expect much of the same titles receiving similar awards, but keep in mind television shows won’t be considered.
