January's Senior student of the month is Johnny Lopez! He was chosen by Mrs. Davis for his hard work and performance in her class. Johnny’s hobbies include writing and staring at art. He enjoys Expressionism and sculpting, which according to him is “pretty crazy and takes serious skill.” After graduation, he is planning on going to college while working. He is starting at College of the Canyons (COC), and later wants to transfer to the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). He says his greatest high school memory “cannot be spoken of.” It seems some stories are better left untold and in memories.
The thing he will miss most about the high school is the location and view of the mountains. If he had to choose a school mascot, he said “We should be bears not falcons.” His final answer: the polar bears. When asked about his greatest accomplishment, he said he hasn’t had one. He doesn’t believe he has accomplished anything yet. He admits he has made mistakes in the past and that life made things hard, but he says that a person has to use that and learn from it. Though he didn’t think so, it seems that that lesson in itself is a great accomplishment. Finally, Johnny gives this piece of advice to Freshmen and any other student at FMHS: “Turn in your work and don’t slack. It’s not as hard as it seems. Also don’t focus on girls. It can distract you and get you into trouble.” Congratulations Johnny! The Falcon Beat would also like to wish you luck in your future endeavors.
