FMHS Soccer has been doing very well for the past few years. Last year the boys won League and the girls won Central Sections of the Central Interscholastic Federation (CIF). This year everyone is hoping to do just as well, and with the season almost over both teams are working hard to achieve their goal! This Tuesday is Senior Night against Bishop, and Thursday will be the last official League game against Rosemond.

This season the girls have won all of their games except for a tie with Bishop and a loss to Kern Valley. Right now they are tied with KV for first place in League. If they are to win, then they must win their last two games and KV must lose one of their last couple of games.

Team captains Carisa Rivette and Aubrey Domke were kind enough to give us an interview and here’s what they had to say:

Falcon Beat (FB): How is your season going so far?

Team Captains (TC): The season is going great! We’ve only lost one League game and we have high hopes for the rest of the season.

FB: What are your current standings?

TC: Right now we are in first place, however after our game last week we now are tied with KV.

FB: Are there any particular games that stand out to you?

TC: KV games are always pivotal. We always have a good fight with them and, as they are our rivals, those games are always competitive and intense.

FB: How do you guys feel about the rest of the season?

TC: We think we will do good. We are motivated and have a good shot at taking League and CIF. We really want to win League this year, especially since it is our senior year and we didn’t win it last year. Right now the plan is to take both.

FB: Thank you ladies and good luck!

The boy’s varsity team has also done exceptionally well, winning most of their games this season, but falling short on their games against Bishop and Rosamond, as well as tying in their most recent game against Desert. The boys are currently tied for 3rd and need to win their last two games of League to advance.

Team Captains Alberto Esparza and Dallin Neeley were nice enough to answer a few of the questions we had for them and here is what they said:

Falcon Beat (FB): How is the season going so far for you guys?

Team Captains (TC): It’s going really good, we just need to touch up on a few things before our games this week. With all the new starters we had this year we did exceptionally well! Throughout the season the team's energy increased and even though we didn't place first in league, we still love our team!

FB: What are your guys current standings?

TC: We’re in third as of right now.

FB: What were the most pivotal games in the season so far?

TC: The most pivotal games we have yet to play. Tuesday and Thursday we will be matched up with our hardest competitors Bishop and Rosamond. These games will determine our place in League.

FB: What are your expectations of your team for the rest of the season?

TC: Just to win.

FB: Do you you anticipate a win for League? CIF?

TC: We think League is out of our reach by now, but CIF is always a strong possibility. We just need to play with our hearts and we should be good.

FB: Thank you for your time and good luck the rest of your season!

The Falcon Beat would like to congratulate both boys and girls varsity on an amazing season!
