Junior Field Trip : Cal Lutheran

Academy Juniors took a field trip to Cal Lutheran and were supposed to go to CSUCI but did not have enough time to visit it since Ryan Raymond came to talk to the class after lunch. A total of 19 Academy Juniors went on the trip with Shelly as the bus driver. The group started out at the front entrance to the university and walked over to the dorms, had to walk around to get to the other dorms and from there we walked to the science part of the university, where we saw a weird looking piece of wood that had chains and what looked like paint in the form of blood trailing down the side. After crossing a bridge we went to the athletic complex where the football field, art gallery, soccer field, and baseball field was. After visiting the athletic complex we went to the on campus buffet and payed $10 to eat a delicious lunch, and then had the opportunity to listen to Ryan Raymond talk about college life and let us ask questions.

On campus they have a buffet with all different types of food and a Starbucks. The Chapel at Cal Lutheran was amazing in design with a grand organ and a lot of stained glass windows. It was surely a sight to behold that told you religion was not on the backburner at this university with how well kept the chapel was. Cal Lutheran is a private, liberal arts university that is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. However, it is not wholly dedicated to the Lutheran beliefs, and students of all faiths are welcome to apply to attend college there.

Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford have spoken at Cal Lutheran, and for the sports people, Cal Lutheran was the training camp for the Dallas Cowboys and now hosts the Los Angeles Rams training camp for the 2017-18 season. For film enthusiasts, movies like Spartacus, Gunsmoke, and Welcome to Hard Times were all filmed on this campus. All in all the field trip to Cal Lutheran was enjoyable and educational for everyone there.
